Windows XP on PowerBook?

Yup, dengan bantuan emulator Q PowerBook G4 12" saya dapat menjalankan Windows XP di atas Mac OS X 10.4.8. Tapi performanya sangat lambat sekali, selain karena memakan memori yang besar, tampaknya proses translasi instruksi dari x86 (Windows XP) ke PowerArchitecture (Mac OS X) tampak sangat membebani sistem. Tidak seperti Parallels Desktop yang berjalan di Mac berbasis Intel, tentu saja emulasi x86 di atas x86 lebih ringan.

Tentu saja artikel ini tidak bermutu jika tidak dilengkapi dengan "skrinsut". Hehehehe...

CMIIW, tapi Parallel memang bukan untuk emulasi x86 kan ya? Maksudnya XP yang jalan di Macintel udah ga perlu di emulasikan lagi kan karena mereka jalannya memang native?

Kalaupun emulasi itu bukan emulasi instruksi melainkan emulasi hardware (sama lah kayak VMWare)

yah, kalo parallels kan baik host-os dan guest-os-nya sama-sama x86, tentu instruksinya tidak perlu diterjemahkan lagi ke instruksi native mesinnya oleh virtual machine-nya.

Sementara di Q, virtual machinenya mesti menterjemahkan instruksi dari guest-os (x86) ke host-os (powerpc).

menggunakan virtual machine itu running native atau tidak?

jadi, Windows XP on PowerBook adalah emulasi. Namun Parallels hanya merupakan virtual machine, tanpa adanya emulasi. Begitu kan?
